HELP US TO RAISE £20,000 TO SUPPORT OXYGEN FOR INDIA EMERGENCY APPEAL

04 May 2021

Like many people, we have been deeply saddened to see the devastating news from India. Rather than ignore those that are most in need, we have set up a Just Giving page with a target of £20,000, which courtesy of our owner and chairman, Peter De Haan, will be match-funded by the Peter De Haan Charitable Trust.

We hope that with the help of our colleagues and the wider business community that we can raise funds for the British Asian Trust Oxygen for India Emergency Appeal.

As news is shared that the daily COVID cases in India are the highest on record for any country, with over 20 million cases so far and 300,000 deaths, we have committed to raising as much as we can to help with the efforts.

Chief Executive Officer for Opus Trust Communications, Tony Strong, comments: “Hearing about the devastating news from India, we simply couldn’t turn our backs. Instead, we decided to launch a collective effort to raise money to fund and deploy oxygen concentrators to be used in hospitals and for patients most in need.

“We would like to thank the Peter De Haan Charitable Trust for offering to match fund the donations up to £20,000. This will make a significant difference and knowing that £830 will help up to support 550 people that are most ill provides some context.

“We are urging all of our customers, suppliers and competitors within the industry to come together and to support this cause.”

As an alternative to oxygen cylinders, concentrators work by recycling oxygen from the air and delivering it to the patient. Each unit can produce enough oxygen for 50 people.
